Gravestone Projects

In April of 2015, our SASAH Class was paired up to reinvigorate the narratives of Canadian soldiers from World War I. Each group was assigned a Soldier from London who was either killed or went MIA during the War and who is memorialized on a gravestone at Woodland Cemetery in London, Ontario. After weeks of research, diving into old Canadian Archives  and scrolling through endless microgram images, and the Canada Great War Project, the students in our class produced amazing work. The creative results of this project astounded each and every one of us, as all 25 people worked extremely hard to do their soldier's story justice.

Here, we have compiled the projects of the authors of this website such that our work on their stories may be shared with the public, and included some of our thoughts after completing the projects.

Enjoy!
